Auggies drop series finale to Gusties

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University men's hockey team rallied from a three-goal deficit to tie the game at 3-3 in the third period, but a Gustavus Adolphus College goal with 8:33 left to play gave the Gusties a 4-3 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Auggies on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg fell behind 3-0 midway through the second period, but rallied back with three straight goals to tie the game. Erik Palmqvist (SR, Linkoping, Sweden/Anderstorpsgymnasiet) started the comeback at the 15:18 mark of the second period, pouncing on a loose puck to the right of the net from Daniel Chladek (JR, Anaheim, Calif./Canyon HS), off a shot from the point by Nick Woodward (SR, Dubuque, Iowa/Dubuque HS).
Gavin Holland (SR, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) trimmed the deficit to 2-1 with a goal at the 4:27 mark of the third period, as Fritz Belisle (SR, Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing HS) threaded the needle on a pass up the ice to Holland for a breakaway goal.
• Augsburg tied the game at the 7:46 mark of the final frame. Austin Dollimer (SR, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS) tipped home a wrist shot from the blue line by Michael Ferrandino (SO, Lisle, Ill./Waterloo West (Iowa) HS), with Chladek getting the second assist.
• The Auggies held a 26-15 shots-on-goal advantage in the game. Palmqvist had six shots, while Holland and Belisle had four shots each.
Jack Robbel (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) had 11 saves in goal for the Auggies.

FOR THE FOES
• Stanislav Danaev and Jack Kubitz scored a goal and assist each for Gustavus, with Kyle Heffron and Patrick Wyers adding the other Gustie goals.
• Gustavus goalie Jackson Hjelle collected 23 saves.
