MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University women's basketball team dropped a tight contest to Carleton College on Wednesday evening, falling 80-74 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies struggled to get anything going offensively out of the gate, quickly finding themselves in an 11-0 hole less than three minutes into the game. They eventually found some semblance of a rhythm, cutting the deficit to four at 25-21 at the first quarter break. Augsburg continued to battle throughout the second quarter with
Alli Born (FY, Otsego, Minn./Rogers HS) hitting a jumper as time expired to tie the game up at 40 at halftime.
• Augsburg took its first lead of the game and remained in control for most of the third quarter, leading by three at the final quarter break. The Knights dominated the final frame, outscoring Augsburg 23-14 to secure the six-point win.

Jaley Coplin (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) put up her second-consecutive 27-point performance, knocking down 10 of her 14 shots and four of six from beyond the arc to tie her career high in scoring.

Samaiya Buchanan (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS) was the only other Auggie in double figures with 11 points on 3-5 shooting from the floor, also grabbing three steals for Augsburg.
Kalena Myers (JR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) finished with nine points while
Nikole Gullerud (SR, Inover Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) and Born added seven each.
• Augsburg won the battle in the paint 32-28 and generated far more offense off the bench, outscoring Carleton 22-8 in the category.
FOR THE FOES
• The Knights were extremely balanced on offense with Emma Henry scoring 18, Amelia Solt scoring 16, Aiana Whitfield finishing with 15, and Jasmine Choi adding 14.
