Auggies pick up 8th win, blank Bethel 3-0

MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University women's soccer team snapped a two-game losing streak in impressive fashion, with a solid effort in a 3-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over Bethel University on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Megan Hensel (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) struck first for the Auggies in the 17th minute, scoring her sixth goal of the season and fourth in her last five games. Jayla Ponce (SR, Kuna, Idaho/Kuna HS) took a throw-in from Samantha Meyer (JR, Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) inside the 18-yard box and dropped the ball to Hensel, who blasted a right-footed shot from 10 yards out.
Rylan Lee (SR, Parker, Colo./Ponderosa HS) scored her second collegiate goal in the 59th minute, assisted by Ponce and McKenna Nachreiner (FY, Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee HS). On a drive into the attacking zone, Nachreiner saved the ball from going out of bounds on the end line, and Ponce feed the ball to the middle of the box, where Lee popped a shot to the top of the goal.
• Nachreiner capped the scoring for the Auggies with her sixth goal of the season in the 66th minute, sprinting forward from midfield and slicing the ball to the right corner of the net past a diving Bethel goalkeeper. 
• Goalkeeper Iz Shuster (SR, Waconia, Minn./Waconia HS) claimed her fifth shutout of the season and ninth of her collegiate career, stopping all seven shots she faced. 
• Bethel outshot Augsburg by a 16-14 margin in the game.

FOR THE FOES
• Kate Green had four saves in goal for Bethel.
•Jessica Oliver had four shots in the game.
