MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University volleyball team hosted the University of Wisconsin-Stout in a nonconference battle on Friday evening, falling in four sets to the Blue Devils at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After the Blue Devils took the opening set, Augsburg broke an 11-11 tie in the second set with seven of the next eight points to take a commanding 19-12 lead. With the Auggies leading 23-15, the Blue Devils put together a six-point run to cut the advantage to just two points. Augsburg found a way to finish strong, ending the set with a kill by
Emily Kaup (JR, Omaha, Neb./Duchesne Academy) and a service ace by
Maggie Lile (FY, Spring Grove, Minn./Spring Grove HS) to even the match.
• The Blue Devils maintained a narrow advantage throughout most of set three, pulling away late for a 25-17 win. Augsburg kept the fourth and final frame close for the majority of its duration, trailing by two at 22-20. The Blue Devils slammed the door from there, claiming three straight points to win the set 25-20 and secure the match 3-1.
• The Blue Devil attackers were more efficient than Augsburg's, outhitting the Auggies .279 to .143. Each team had six service aces, while UW-Stout edged the Auggies 56-53 in digs.

Bri Van Well (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) continued her streak as Augsburg's top hitter, logging 17 kills while hitting .213 and adding seven digs and a block assist. Kaup was second on the team with eight kills and seven digs.

Torrie Rehder (JR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) led the team with 10 digs, and
Angel Vo (JR, Blaine, Minn./Mounds View HS) tallied 20 set assists and seven digs.
FOR THE FOES
• Kyra Giffen was the top attacker for the Blue Devils, finishing with 17 kills while hitting .406.
