LOCATION: Edor Nelson Field, Minneapolis, Minn.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Cobbers had all the momentum early, putting together three scoring drives to take a 17-0 lead midway through the second quarter. Augsburg managed to get something going late in the second quarter when
Justin Tverberg (SR, Farmington, Minn./Hastings HS) forced a fumble and
Conner Elliott (SO, Rosemount, Minn./Apple Valley HS) recovered it for Augsburg in Cobber territory. The Auggies put together an eight-play drive covering 3:52, but only managed 16 yards before
Nathan Wangensteen (SO, Chisholm, Minn./Chisholm HS) knocked a 36-yard field goal through to make it a two-possession game. The Cobbers would add another touchdown late in the second to make it 24-3 at halftime.
• After the Cobbers extended their lead to 30-3 following a pair of third-quarter field goals, Augsburg found the end zone for the first and only time when
Ryan Harvey (SO, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) found
Braden Tretter (SR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) for a five-yard touchdown pass with 5:05 remaining in the game. The scoring drive was set up by another fumble recovery from the Auggie defense, this time by
Lionel Gates (JR, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS).
• The Auggies were outgained 398-201 in the game, due in large part to a Cobber rushing attack that finished with 247 yards on the ground. The game contained five turnovers, three by the Cobber offense and two by the Auggies.
Tramone Nevels (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS) had an interception for the Auggies while Gates and Elliott had fumble recoveries.
•
DJ Monroe (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) led all Auggies with 45 rushing yards on 12 carries.
Tyrone Wilson (So, Ellendale, Minn./New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva HS) was the top target through the air, hauling in seven catches for 38 yards.
FOR THE FOES
• Colin Conteh was the leading rusher in the game, logging 20 carries for 124 yards. Cooper Mattern added 89 yards on 18 carries.
