MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University volleyball team hosted Macalester College in its final home Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Saturday evening, beating the Scots in four sets at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Trailing by one at 15-14 in the opening set, the Auggies rattled off eight straight points to take a commanding 22-15 advantage on the way to a 25-19 set win. The Scots would go on to take set two 25-15 to even the match at 1-1.
• Tied at 21 late in set three, Augsburg took four of the final six points to claim the set 25-23. Set four was another back-and-forth affair, but Augsburg maintained a narrow edge for most of the set. With Augsburg leading 17-15, the teams alternated points for the following 11 serves before Augsburg took two in a row to make it 24-20, eventually claiming the 25-21 win to take the match 3-1.
• The Augsburg attack held a slight edge in efficiency, outhitting the Scots .217 to .211. The Auggies held a decisive 10-2 advantage in blocks.

Bri Van Well (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) led the Auggies with 18 kills while hitting .260, also adding nine digs.
Madison Gully (JR, Cedar, Minn./St. Francis HS) logged a career-high 13 kills while hitting at an efficient .440 clip.
• The defensive effort was balanced for the Auggies, with
Torrie Rehder (JR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) finishing with 16 digs and
Emily Kaup (JR, Omaha, Neb./Duchesne Academy HS) and
Angel Vo (JR, Blaine, Minn./Mounds View HS) adding 11 and 10, respectively. Vo also added 20 set assists for the double-double.
FOR THE FOES
• Adisa Preston led the Scots with 14 kills while MiLani Terrell and Sydney Stratton added 10 each.
