MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University volleyball team hosted Bethany Lutheran College in nonconference action on Wednesday evening in its final home regular season match, sweeping the Vikings on senior night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Vikings managed to remain competitive and take a brief lead at 18-17 after falling behind 7-0 to start the opening set, but the Auggies quickly regained the advantage and claimed a 25-21 set win.
• Trailing 14-11 in the second frame, Augsburg won eight consecutive points to take a 19-14 lead that would hold for the remainder of the set, eventually taking the set 25-22 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
• Though Augsburg held a decisive 17-9 advantage in set three, the Vikings slowly found a groove as they cut the deficit to two at 21-19. The Auggies refused to give up the lead, winning four of the final six to take the set 25-21 and complete the sweep.
• The Auggies dominated the stats sheet as a team, outhitting the Vikings .220 to .137 and holding decisive advantages in kills (51-28), assists (50-26), and digs (63-53).
• Playing in her final home regular-season match at Si Melby Hall,
Bri Van Well (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) was outstanding as she led all players with 23 kills while hitting .321, also adding four digs. Fellow senior
Angel Vo (SR, Blaine, Minn./Mounds View HS) also shined, leading the team with 25 set assists and adding 10 digs for her tenth double-double of the season.
• Playing as Augsburg's libero in sets two and three,
Brier Ziemer (SO, Carver, Minn./Chaska HS)) led the Auggies with 13 digs and added eight set assists.
Torrie Rehder (JR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS), the libero in the opening set, finished with 10 digs.
GK LeMonds (JR, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) was efficient with her attack opportunities, finishing with eight kills while hitting .429.
FOR THE FOES
• Katelyn Maag led the Vikings with eight kills at a .318 hitting clip.

• Augsburg will wrap up its regular season at Bethel University on Friday (11/3) at 7 pm with a berth in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs on the line.
