Auggies swept by Falcons on the road

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Augsburg University volleyball team traveled to River Falls, Wisconsin to take on the University of Wisconsin-River falls on Tuesday evening, falling to the Falcons 3-0 in nonconference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After a run of four consecutive points for Augsburg put the Auggies up 13-12 in the first set, the Falcons responded with a five-point run to regain a lead that would hold for the remainder of the set.
• The Falcons took an early lead in set two and kept their foot on the gas, cruising to a 25-14 win. The Auggies kept the third set closer most of the way as they trailed by just two at 13-11, but the Falcons controlled a majority of the back half of the set on the way to a 25-17 win to complete the sweep.
• The Augsburg attack struggled to find consistency, hitting .064 as a team with 25 kills. The Falcons hit .217 as a team with 39 kills in the match.
Emily Kaup (JR, Omaha, Neb./Duchesne Academy) finished with a team-high eight kills, also adding five digs. Bri Van Well (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) was second on the team with five kills while hitting .250.
Torrie Rehder (JR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) led the back row, logging 15 digs and two set assists. Jovial King (FY, Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS) was the go-to setter with 13 set assists in the match.

FOR THE FOES
• Kameri Meredith finished with a 12-kill, 11-dig double-double for the Falcons and Sami Hilley added 10 kills.

UP NEXT
• The Auggies will be back in action on Friday (10/6) at 7 pm with a road match against Saint Mary's University in Winona.
