ASHLAND, Wis. -- The Augsburg University men's hockey jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held off a Northland College rally, as the Auggies claimed a 5-3 nonconference victory on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg scored three goals in the opening period and another 31 seconds into the second period to take a 4-0 lead. The Lumberjacks scored three straight goals to cut the lead to 4-3 late in the game, but an empty-net goal with 59 seconds left to play sealed the win for the Auggies.

Cade Stibbe (SO, Fargo, N.D./Fargo Davies HS) scored a goal with two assists to lead the Auggies. He opened the scoring with a goal in the slot from
Vincent Weis (SR, Madison, Wis./Madison Edgewood HS) just 89 seconds into the game.

Erik Palmqvist (SR, Linkoping, Sweden/Anderstorpsgymnasiet) had a goal and assist, scoring his second goal of the season on a smart move in the slot following a centering pass from
Daniel Chladek (SR, Anaheim, Calif./Canyon HS), with
Peyton Hanson (SO, Hudson, Wis./Hudson HS) getting the second assist.
Jake Hale (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Apex Virtual School) scored 1:43 later on a rebound off a
Nick Catalano (SO, Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead Union HS), with Stibbe getting the second assist.

Fritz Belisle (SR, Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing HS) opened the second period with a bang, scoring on the power play on a shot in the slot from Palmqvist, with Stibbe getting the second assist.
• Kyle Yeo (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) capped the scoring with his first goal of the season, an empty-netter from
Landon Parker (FY, East Grand Forks, Minn./East Grand Forks HS).
• Augsburg claimed a 45-28 advantage in shots on-goal, including a 19-5 advantage in the first period. Goalie
Samuel Vyletelka (JR, Zilina, Slovakia/Grammar School of St. Francis of Assisi) had 25 saves.
FOR THE FOES
• Camille Marcoux and Bryson Cecconi had a goal and assist each for Northland, with Jackson Breton adding the other Lumberjack goal.
• Northland goalie Viktor Wennberg had 40 saves.
