WINONA, Minn. -- Behind a pair of goals each from
Erik Palmqvist (SR, Linkoping, Sweden/Anderstorpsgymnasiet) and
Kyler Yeo (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS), the Augsburg University men's hockey team completed a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series sweep of Saint Mary's University with a 4-1 win on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Both Palmqvist and Yeo recorded their first collegiate career multi-goal games on Saturday, with Palmqvist adding an assist for a career-best three-point night. Palmqvist now leads the Auggies with four goals and seven assists for 11 points after the season's first seven games.
• Palmqvist opened the scoring at the 4:39 mark of the first period, firing a shot from the slot following a feed off a steal at the blue line by
Peyton Hanson (SO, Hudson, Wis./Hudson HS).
• Augsburg scored twice in the opening 2:44 of the second period to take a 3-0 lead. Yeo struck first on the power play just 47 seconds into the frame, scoring a one-timer in the slot on a rebound off a shot by
Cade Stibbe (SO, Fargo, N.D./Fargo Davies HS), following a feed from the point by Palmqvist.
• Palmqvist scored his second goal of the game at the 2:44 mark, a power-play marker, on a blast from the left faceoff circle, after a pass by
Fritz Belisle (SR, Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing HS).
Michael Ferrandino (JR, Lisle, Ill./Waterloo West (Iowa) HS had the second assist.
• The Cardinals cut the lead to 3-1 with a goal early in the third period, but Yeo clinched the win for the Auggies with his second goal of the game, scoring on a 3-on-1 break with 3:03 left to play. Belisle and
Landon Parker (FY, East Grand Forks, Minn./East Grand Forks HS) assisted on the goal.
• Augsburg outshot Saint Mary's by a 34-27 margin in the game. After a 41-save shutout in Friday's 6-0 win, Auggie goalie
Samuel Vyletelka (JR, Zilina, Slovakia/Grammar School of St. Francis of Assisi) had 26 saves on Saturday.
FOR THE FOES
• Noah Kiemel scored from Connor Abric at the 4:27 mark of the third period for Saint Mary's.
• Cardinal goalie A.J. Ruskowski had 30 saves.
