Augsburg's Van Well, Rehder earn MIAC honors

MINNEAPOLIS – Two Augsburg University volleyball players earned Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors as outside hitter Bri Van Well (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) was named All-MIAC while defensive specialist Torrie Rehder (JR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention accolades, it was announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

Bri Van WellFor Van Well, the All-MIAC selection comes as the first of her career. The senior led the MIAC and ranked 33rd in all of Division III with 3.92 kills per-set this season, totaling 416 kills through 106 sets played. Her hitting percentage of .254 led the team and was tied for eighth-best in the conference. Van Well reached double digits in kills 22 times this season, surpassing 20 kills on five occasions. Her 28 kills against Hamline on October 11 marked a new career high, and ranked fourth in a single match in the rally scoring era of Augsburg volleyball. 

In her four year-career, Van Well has amassed 860 kills across 306 sets played, averaging 2.81 per-set, a mark that stands as the fifth-highest in program history. Her career hitting percentage of .245 ranks eighth in program history, and she has also added 107 total blocks, 226 digs, and 25 set assists in her career.

Torrie RehderRehder's All-MIAC Honorable Mention nod was also the first of her career. The junior tallied 482 digs this season, ranking fourth in the conference in that category while averaging 4.63 digs per-set, a mark that stands fifth in the conference. Rehder recorded 10-plus digs in a match 25 times this season, including 11 performances of 20 digs or more. She set her career high with 30 digs in a match against Wartburg on September 8, later matching that output with a 30-dig match against Simpson College on September 16. 

Through her three years as an Auggie, Rehder has collected 744 digs, averaging 3.41 per-set. She has also added 83 set assists, 59 service aces, and 14 kills.

The Auggies finished the 2023 campaign with an overall record of 15-14, holding a 6-5 record in conference play.
