Auggies fall to Johnnies on the road

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Augsburg University men's basketball team took on Saint John's University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Monday evening, falling 112-54 to the Johnnies at Sexton Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After taking a narrow lead early on at 9-7 just over five minutes into the game, the Johnnies began to create separation as they worked their way to a 51-26 lead at halftime. It was a similar story in the second half as they outscored the Auggies 61-28.
• The Auggies hit on 14 of their 58 attempts from the field while the Johnnies stayed hot throughout the game with a 41-of-61 (67.2%) performance. Augsburg held an edge on the offensive glass, pulling down 12 offensive rebounds to Saint John's one and outscoring the Johnnies 8-2 in second chance points.
Will Blascziek (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) and Isaac Rabaey (JR, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) were the scoring leaders for the Auggies, finishing with eight points each while pulling down two and five rebounds, respectively. Rabaey took 12 trips to the free throw line and cashed in on eight of them while Blascziek was 5-of-6 from the line.
Trent Gomez (FY, Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) and Jalen Dearring (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS) added seven points each for the Auggies. Austin Jentzen (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) led the Auggies with seven rebounds.

FOR THE FOES
• Brandon Adelman led a balanced scoring effort for the Johnnies, tallying 19 points on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting.
• Kooper Vaughn, Griffin Rushin, and Kyle Johnson each finished in double figures with 14, 12, and 10 points, respectively.

• The Auggies will host Carleton College on Wednesday (12/6) at 7 pm.
