Auggies taken down by Knights 93-64

MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University men's basketball team hosted Carleton College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tilt on Wednesday evening, falling to the Knights 93-64.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies opened the game with a pair of threes from Jalen Dearring (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS) to take an early 6-2 lead, but the Knights quickly battled back to take the lead at 8-6. Carleton held the advantage for the remainder of the half, pushing the lead as high as 19 before the Auggies cut it back to ten at 43-33 at the half. The Knights' lead never dipped back into single digits throughout the second half as they claimed the 93-64 win.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 23-of-61 from the floor (37.7%) while the Knights hit on 39-of-77 (50.6%), including a 12-of-26 (46.2%) performance from beyond the arc. Augsburg was far more active at the charity stripe, hitting 13 of its 18 free throw attempts compared to Carleton's 3-of-4 night.
• Dearring was the offensive leader for the Auggies, scoring a career-high 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting and adding three rebounds and a steal. Colin Meade (SR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) was second on the team with 14 points and two rebounds.
Elias Batala (FY, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) led the effort off the bench with 13 points on 3-of-5 shooting, also going 7-for-10 at the free throw line. Also coming off the bench, Isaac Rabaey (JR, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) finished with a team-leading seven rebounds and seven points.

FOR THE FOES

• The Knights used a balanced offensive approach with six players in double figures.
• Matt Banovetz finished as the scoring leader with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting, also adding eight rebounds.
