Auggie men draw with Saints

MINNEAPOLIS -- Nick Catalano (FY, Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead Union HS) claimed his first collegiate multi-goal game with a two-goal effort in Augsburg University's 5-5 overtime tie with the College of St. Scholastica in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey game on Friday evening. The Saints won the shootout 1-0 in three rounds, and claimed the MIAC regular-season title with the draw.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The teams traded leads throughout the fast-paced game, with Catalano scoring twice late in the second period to give the Auggies a 5-4 lead. St. Scholastica scored an extra-attacker goal with 1:15 left in regulation time, forcing the overtime session and clinching the MIAC regular-season title for the Saints. After a scoreless overtime, St. Scholastica scored on its first shootout attempt and held the Auggies scoreless on their three attempts.
• Gavin Holland (SR, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) scored a shorthanded goal and had an assist for the Auggies, with Dylan Schneider (SO, Rochester, Minn/Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) and Daniel Chladek (JR, Anaheim, Calif./Canyon HS) adding goals for the hosts.
• Kyler Yeo (JR, Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) had two assists for Augsburg, with Jarod Blackowiak (SR, Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie HS), Austin Dollimer (SR, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS), Michael Ferrandino (SO, Lisle, Ill./Waterloo West (Iowa) HS), Peyton Hanson (FY, Hudson, Wis./Hudson HS), Logan Kons (JR, Niles, Ill./Niles West HS) and Jake Osiecki (JR, Verona, Wis./Verona HS) adding assists.
• Augsburg outshot St. Scholastica by a 29-27 margin, with Jack Robbel (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) claiming 22 saves in goal for the Auggies.

• The game was the final home regular-season contest for 11 Augsburg seniors -- Blackowiak, Dollimer, Holland, Robbel, Fritz Belisle (SR, Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing HS), Mason Palmer (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS), Erik Palmqvist (SR, Linkoping, Sweden/Anderstorpsgymnasiet), Brandon Ratzloff (SR, Rochester, Minn./John Marshall HS), Michael Redmon (SR, Brighton, Minn./Centennial (Tenn.) FOR THE FOES
• Carsen Richels scored three goals with an assist for a four-point night for the Saints, scoring the game-tying goal at the 18:45 mark of the third period. Tristan Shewchuk and Arkhip Ledenkov also scored goals for the Saints, with Ledenkov adding three assists.
• Goalie Jack Bostedt had 24 saves for St. Scholastica.
