Auggies spread the scoring in win over UW-Stout

MINNEAPOLIS --  With nine different players scoring goals, the Augsburg University women's lacrosse team claimed an 18-7 nonconference victory over the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The teams exchanged a pair of goals each in the opening seven minutes of play, before Augsburg went on a five-goal scoring run to take a 7-2 advantage late in the first quarter. The Auggies built the lead to 11-5 at halftime and used a six-goal scoring run to build the lead to double digits in the second half.
• Jade Wilson (FY, Waukee, Iowa/Northwest HS) had a strong all-around game for the Auggies, scoring three goals with seven draw controls, 10 ground balls and two caused turnovers.
• Mackenzie Galazen (SO, Kimball, Minn./Rocori HS) also had a solid game in the midfield, scoring three goals with seven draw controls, four caused turnovers and three ground balls.
• Alexa Hoffman (JR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) scored three goals with two ground balls, and Isabella Kohout (FY, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) scored her first three collegiate goals, adding two ground balls.
• Rylan Lee (SO, Parker, Colo./Ponderosa HS) scored two goals with three caused turnovers, three ground balls and three draw controls, and Eleanor Flynn (FY, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) scored a goal with an assist, adding three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
• Shelby Ramirez (SR, Winthrop, Minn./Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop HS), Alexa Martin (JR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) and Beatriz Sandoval Gomez (SO, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) also scored goals for the Auggies. Ramirez added two ground balls and two draw controls, Martin had two ground balls and two caused turnovers, and Sandoval Gomez had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
• Goalie Nicole Schuster (FY, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) had seven saves and a ground ball.
• Augsburg outshot UW-Stout by a 38-16 margin in the game and had a 20-8 draw control advantage. The Auggies had 34 ground balls to the Blue Devils' 16, and forced 30 Blue Devil turnovers while committing 22.

FOR THE FOES
• Mai Nou Vang scored the first goal for UW-Stout, playing its first-ever varsity women's lacrosse game. Vang scored four goals with three ground balls to lead the Blue Devils.
• Tessa Bailey had 18 saves in goal for the Blue Devils, adding two ground balls.

• Augsburg travels to Illinois for a pair of nonconference games this weekend, playing at Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday (3/4) at 4 p.m. and at Augustana (Ill.) on Sunday (3/5) at 12 p.m.
