BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Augsburg University's
Allison Hookom (FY, Andover, Minn./Anoka HS) competed in the 400-meter dash at the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships in Birmingham, Alabama on Friday afternoon, placing 20
th overall.
Hookom clocked a time of 59.71 seconds, putting her in 20
th place in the event. Hookom will not advance to the finals tomorrow with only the top eight finishers in the preliminaries qualifying.
The NCAA Championships appearance caps off an outstanding indoor season for the first-year sprinter after earning a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title in the 400-meter dash, and becoming the first Auggie to qualify for the national meet since Jada Lewis in 2020. Hookom has now entered the 400-meter dash eight times in her first-year campaign, winning the event five times and placing in the top three on seven occasions.
With the indoor season now in the books, the Auggies will now make the transition to the outdoor season, competing at the Point Loma Nazarene Ross and Sharon Irwin Invitational over spring break in San Diego, California on Saturday, March 18.
