RIPON 5, AUGSBURG 1
• Ripon got the scoring started in the top of the third with a three-run inning. The Red Hawks extended their lead in the top of the fifth, scoring two more runs to take a 5-0 lead.
• The Auggies had chances to score as they left a runner on third base twice in the first six innings, but they did not put a runner on the board until the bottom of the seventh when
Zoie Johnson (SO, Carlton, Minn./Esko HS) brought
Jayden Evenson (FY, Mosinee, Wis./Mosinee HS) around to score on a single.
• That proved to be all the scoring the Auggies could come up with as Ripon recorded the final out to complete the 5-1 victory.
•
Libby Moore (SO, Springville, Iowa/Springville HS) pitched a complete game, striking out one while allowing seven hits and five runs, though only two were earned.
• Evenson had a perfect game at the plate, going 4-4 with a run scored.
AUGSBURG 10, SAINT MARY'S (IND.) 9 (9 INNINGS)
• Johnson set the tone early in game two for the Auggies, hitting her team-leading third home run of the season, scoring
Torrie Rehder (SO, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) in the process.
• After the Belles got one back in the bottom of the first, Evenson scored on a Saint Mary's error to restore the two-run lead at 3-1.
• The Belles would add another run in the bottom of the third, but RBIs from Johnson and
Brynn Hostettler (SO, Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) in the top of the fifth gave Augsburg a 5-2 lead.
• Saint Mary's once again added a single run in the fifth. The Auggies extended their lead to a game-high four runs in the sixth, getting a two-RBI single from Evenson and another RBI single from
Olivia Hennager (FY, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) .
• The Belles finally managed a sustained scoring run between the sixth and seventh innings, scoring four straight to tie the game at eight at the end of seven innings.
• With the international tiebreaker in effect for extra innings, a runner was placed at second base for the start of each half inning. The Auggies struck first in extras when Hennager batted in Rehder, who started the inning at second base in the top of the eighth. The Belles would go on to follow that up with a run of their own in the bottom of the eighth, sending the game to a ninth inning.
