Allison Hookom (FY, Andover, Minn./Anoka HS) of the Augsburg University women's track and field team has qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships in the 400-meter dash, it was announced this week.
With her qualification, Hookom becomes the first Auggie to qualify for the NCAA Indoor National Championsips since Jada Lewis qualified for the 60-meter dash in back-to-back seasons in 2019 and 2020.
The championships, hosted by Birmingham-Southern College, will be held at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama on Friday, March 10 and Saturday, March 11. The preliminary round of the women's 400-meter dash is scheduled for 3:25 pm (Central) on Friday while the finals will take place at 3:35 pm on Saturday.
Hookom qualified for the championships with her time of 57.56 seconds at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, converted from her original time of 58.32 seconds due to track size. Hookom earned her first conference title and All-MIAC honors with that time, also earning All-MIAC Honorable Mention selections in the 200-meter dash and the 4x200-meter relay. Hookom has entered the 400-meter dash seven times in her first-year campaign so far, winning the event five times and placing in the top three on each occasion.
