MINNEAPOLIS – Pounding out 18 hits in the doubleheader, the Augsburg University softball team scored a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference sweep of Concordia College-Moorhead on Saturday afternoon at Edor Nelson Field, winning 5-3 and 5-1.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg used a 12-hit attack to gain the first victory, scoring all its runs in the first three innings and holding off a late Concordia comeback.
• RBI singles by

Zoie Johnson (SO, Carlton, Minn./Esko HS) plated
Torrie Rehder (SO, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) and

Libby Moore (SO, Springville, Iowa/Springville HS) in the first inning.

Grace Syson (JR, Oshkosh, Wis./Lourdes Academy HS) led off the second inning with a double, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on an RBI single by
Katie Manecke (JR, Shoreview, Minn./Shoreview HS).

Olivia Dynneson (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) drove in
Jaime Olson (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) on a one-out single in the third inning.

Olivia O'Connor (JR, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) threw a complete-game victory for the Auggies to improve to 7-5 on the year, striking out four against four walks on 136 pitches. While Concordia had 11 hits in the game, O'Connor was able to work out of several jams, as the Cobbers stranded 11 runners on-base.
• Johnson went 3-for-4 at the plate in the first game, while Olson, Syson and Manecke had two hits each.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Again, Augsburg scored all of its runs in the first three innings, and pitcher
Brynn Hostettler (SO, Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) threw a one-hit victory, striking out 13 while walking 14 and throwing 152 pitches. Like O'Connor in the first game, Hostettler fended off several Concordia threats, as the Cobbers stranded 10 runners on-base -- including seven in the final three innings.
• The game ended on a lineout double play, with second baseman Evenson catching a low line drive and tossing the ball to first baseman Dynneson to double off the Cobber runner. Augsburg also thwarted a double-steal attempt by the Cobbers in the second inning, throwing out runners trying to steal both home and second on the same play.
• After a pair of one-out walks to start the game, Johnson hit an RBI single to drive in Evenson with Augsburg's first run.
• Dynneson led off the second inning with a walk, and Rehder hit a two-run homer to right field, her first homer of the second and second of her college career.
• Hennager and Johnson led off the third inning with singles, with Hennager scoring on a fielder's choice by Moore and Johnson scoring on a delayed double steal attempt.
• Rehder and Johnson had two hits each in the second game.
FOR THE FOES
• Molly Wilde went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the first game for Concordia.
• Kailee Falconer had the lone hit for the Cobbers in the second game, and also stole two bases.
