Augsburg lacrosse falls at Saint Benedict

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- Outshot by a 46-20 margin, the Augsburg University women's lacrosse team suffered a 19-10 defeat in Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play at the College of Saint Benedict on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Bennies, who clinched the MWLC regular-season title with the victory, outscored Augsburg by a 9-2 margin in the second quarter to take an 11-4 halftime lead. The Bennies outshot the Auggies by a 30-7 margin in the first half. Saint Benedict had 21 draw controls to Augsburg's 11, and had 18 ground balls to Augsburg's nine.
• Jade Wilson (FY, Waukee, Iowa/Northwest HS) scored four goals with three draw controls, three caused turnovers and a ground ball to lead the Auggies.
• Alexa Hoffman (JR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) scored three goals, and Isabella Kohout (FY, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) scored two goals with a draw control and a caused turnover.
Mackenzie Galazen (SO, Kimball, Minn./Rocori HS) scored a goal with four draw controls and two ground balls.
Rylan Lee (SR, Parker, Colo./Ponderosa HS) had three draw controls and a ground ball, and Kayla Courtney (JR, Maplewood, Minn./Roseville HS) added two ground balls.
• Goalie Nicole Schuster (FY, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) recorded 17 saves, with a ground ball.

FOR THE FOES
• Grace Fitzgibbons scored six goals with two assists to lead the Bennies, adding a draw control and two caused turnovers.
• Sami Hackley scored three goals with nine draw controls and two ground balls, and Ella Steinke scored three goals with six draw controls and five ground balls.
