MOUNT VERNON, Iowa -- Cornell College used an 8-0 run in the third quarter to pull away from the Augsburg University women's lacrosse team on Friday, claiming a 15-9 victory in a Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Cornell led 5-4 at halftime, then pulled away with an 8-0 run in the third quarter. Augsburg scored four straight goals in the first 7:16 of the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 13-8, but the Rams scored twice to clinch the victory in the final minutes.

Jade Wilson (FY, Waukee, Iowa/Northwest HS) led the way for the Auggies, scoring five goals with six draw controls and four ground balls. Wilson now has 34 goals and 35 points on the season,
leading MWLC players in both categories. Her 68 draw controls also lead the MWLC, while her 47 ground balls are second-most in the league.

Alexa Hoffman (JR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) scored a goal with two assists, adding a ground ball.

Isabella Kohout (FY, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) and
Beatriz Sandoval Gomez (SO, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) also scored goals for the Auggies.
Abby Luallen (FY, Pensacola, Fla./Pensacola HS) scored a goal wtih a ground ball.

Mackenzie Galazen (SO, Kimball, Minn./Rocori HS) and
Rylan Lee (SR, Parker, Colo./Ponderosa HS) each had three ground balls and three draw controls. Lee added two caused turnover, while Galazen had one.

Nicole Schuster (FY, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) claimed 13 saves in goal with a caused turnover and eight ground balls.
• Cornell outshot Augsburg by a 36-25 margin and had 41 ground balls to Augsburg's 25.
FOR THE FOES
• Cece Zanoni scored four goals with two ground balls to lead Cornell. Sabrina Ibanez scored three goals with two assists and two draw controls.
• Hannah Meich had 11 saves and three ground balls for the Rams.
