DULUTH, Minn. – The Augsburg University baseball team traveled north to take on the College of St. Scholastica on Wednesday afternoon, splitting with the Saints in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader.

GAME ONE RECAP
• With no runs on the board through three innings of play, the Auggies broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth.
Ty Gage (JR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) started the scoring with an RBI single to left that brought
Michael Weiss (SR, Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar HS) home and
Brandon Lockhart (SO, Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) followed him up with a sacrifice fly that scored
Adam Marshall (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS).
Jack Jones (JR, Burnsville, Minn./Holy Angels HS) put the Auggies up 3-0 witrh a single to left center that allowed
Carson Tomony (SR, Madison, Wis./Madison East HS) to score.
• After the Saints went on to tie the game with three runs in the fifth, the Auggies regained the advantage at 5-3 on a pair of runs in the sixth off an RBI double from Gage and another RBI single from Jones.
• The Saints threatened with a run in the bottom of the seventh to cut the deficit to one, but Augsburg pitcher
Manny Weiss (FY, Marion, Iowa, Linn-Mar HS) was able to force a strikeout, a fly out, and a ground out to secure the 5-4 win.

Nick Allbee (FY, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) made the start on the mound for the Auggies, allowing three hits and three earned runs with four strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work. Weiss earned the win for the Auggies, allowing three hits and just one run with a strikeout in 2.2 innings.
• Gage had a phenomenal game at the plate as the designated hitter, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Jones also had a strong game, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
GAME TWO RECAP
• It was the Saints striking first in game two, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead.
• Lockhart got the Auggies on the board shortly after, batting in to a fielder's choice to allow Marshall to score in the second inning.
• After St. Scholastica got a run back to restore the two-run cushion in the bottom of the second, Augsburg once again pulled within one when Weiss hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score
Lance Nayman (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Central HS) in the third.
• The Saints offense continued its steady stream of runs in the fourth, adding two more to take a 5-2 lead. Marshall came through for the Auggies once again in the top of the fifth, cranking a triple to right field to score both
Clint Mattson (SR, North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) and Nayman, cutting the deficit to just a single run for the third time in the game.
• St. Scholastica would go on to score another run in the fifth and one more in the seventh to take a 7-4 lead that it would never relinquish.

Jacob Henry (FY, Stacy, Minn./Forest Lake HS) made the start and took the loss for Augsburg, giving up six hits and three earned runs with four strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work.
Cam Fischer (JR, Becker, Minn./Becker HS) recorded the next four outs, allowing three hits and a run.
Matty Rones (SR, Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman HS) pitched a scoreless inning of relief, giving up two hits with one strikeout.
Kell Piggott (FY, Superior, Wis./Superior HS) finished the final two innings on the mound, allowing two hits and one run with two strikeouts.
• Marshall was the only Auggie with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and one run scored.

FOR THE FOES
• Saints pitcher Payton Jeffries pitched a complete game in game two and got hot at the right time, retiring 19 Auggies in a row to finish the game and earn the win.

• The Auggies will travel to Menomonie, Wis. tomorrow for a single nine-inning nonconference game hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stout starting at 2 p.m.
