HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Augsburg University volleyball team wrapped up play at the Haverford Invitational with two matches on Saturday, falling to Stockton University 3-2 and topping Coast Guard 3-2.

STOCKTON 3, AUGSBURG 2
• After the Opsreys worked their way to a 17-10 advantage in the opening set, the Auggies took the next six points to pull within one at 17-16. Augsburg kept it close the rest of the way, but Stockton claimed the final three points to win the set 25-21.
• Trailing 9-5 early in set two, the Auggies clawed their way back to take the lead at 12-11. The teams continued to trade blows, with Stockton eventually taking a 20-18 lead. Augsburg managed to secure seven of the final 10 points, four of which came on kills by
Bri Van Well (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS), to win the set 25-23 and even the match at one each.
• After taking an 18-10 lead in the third set, the Auggies remained in the driver's seat the rest of the way as they cruised to a 25-19 win to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
• In the fourth set, Augsburg once again worked out to an early advantage at 6-5. Stockton went on to win the next three points to claim an advantage they would not relinquish for the remainder of the set.
• With set five tied at 4-4 early on, Stockton won six of the following seven points to take a 10-5 lead. The Auggies fought to cut the deficit to two points on three separate occasions, but it proved to be all they could do as the Opsreys claimed the set 15-12 to win the match.
• Van Well led the way for the Auggie attack once again, notching 22 kills on a .320 hitting clip.
Emily Kaup (JR, Omaha, Neb./Duchesne Academy) was also a key contributor, hitting .297 and logging 15 kills and nine digs.
Brier Ziemer (SO, Carver, Minn./ Chaska HS) led the defensive effort with 20 digs while
Angel Vo (JR, Blaine, Minn./Mounds View HS) had 14 digs and 20 assists.
AUGSBURG 3, COAST GUARD 2
• Finding themselves in a 6-1 hole early in the first set, Augsburg won six consecutive points to take an 8-6 lead that it would hold for the remainder of the set. The Auggies dominated the latter portion of the set, claiming a 25-15 win.
• The second frame proved to be a back-and-forth affair, but Augsburg held a narrow advantage for most of the early portion of the set. With Augsburg leading 12-11, the Bears jumped on top and grabbed a 15-12 advantage that they would not give up. Augsburg kept it close, but Coast Guard escaped with a 25-22 win to even the match.
• Set three proved to be almost the exact inverse of its predecessor, with the Bears holding an early lead and the Auggies climbing back to secure a 25-23 win.
• Late in set four, the Auggies maintained a 23-20 advantage. Needing a set win to stay alive, Coast Guard took six of the following seven points to narrowly win the set 26-24.
• After trailing 7-6 in the final set, Augsburg took control and never looked back with a 9-4 run to win the set 15-11 and claim the 3-2 win.
• Neither team's attack was exceptionally sharp, with the Auggies narrowly outhitting the Bears .199 to .167 and Coast Guard holding a 59-56 advantage in kills.
• Kaup was the offensive leader in the match, logging a 20-kill, 22 dig double-double while hitting .283. Van Well was just behind her with 17 kills and two digs.

• Nicole Palmer led the Opsreys with 20 kills and four digs.
• The Bears were led by Shannon Shaw with 18 kills and four digs.
