Auggies score 0-0 stalemate at Saint John's

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- The Augsburg University men's soccer team remained unbeaten in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, scoring a scoreless draw at Saint John's University on Tuesday afternoon.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Augsburg 0, Saint John's 0
LOCATION: Haws Field, Collegeville, Minn.
RECORDS: Augsburg 6-1-2 overall (2-0-1 MIAC), Saint John's 5-2-2 overall (2-1-1 MIAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Goalkeeper Oscar Herrera (SR, Madison, Wis./Madison East HS) picked up his second shutout of the year and 14th of his collegiate career, stopping all five shots on-goal he faced in the tie. Herrera currently stands third among MIAC goalkeepers with a 0.88 goals against-average.
• The two teams were relatively even in possession, with the Johnnies holding a 52-to-48-percent possession advantage. Saint John's outshot Augsburg by a 15-8 margin in the game, with the Johnnies holding a 5-3 edge in shots on-goal.
• Playing 34 minutes off the bench, Tomas Menna (JR, Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) had three shots in the game.
• Augsburg defenders Drew Collins (SR, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS), Jakob Mohrlok (JR, Stuttgart, Germany/Schoenbuch Gymnasium) and Ayden Lee (SO, St. Paul, Minn./North St. Paul HS) each played the full 90 minutes.

FOR THE FOES
• Evan Siefken had three saves in goal for Saint John's.

QUOTES FROM AUGSBURG HEAD COACH GREG HOLKER
• "This year, the MIAC is as tight as I have ever seen it in my 20 years. It's crazy how good all the teams are, and today's game was a reflection of that. Saint John's was really good and the game was a high level college game. We could have won. They could have won. In the end, we will split the points -- our first up in Collegeville in a long time."
• "Ayden Lee was really good today, going the full 90. Tomas Menna was effective in his minutes, and showed his versatility in a few roles. It was good for Mitchell Munzing to get some time today -- this was the first time he's touched a ball since he went down injured against Saint Mary's. I think if he had been able to train a bit, he would have scored his chance -- Miz did well to get around the right edge and he sent a dime along the six-yard box, Mitchell kept it on the floor and Seifken made another game-saving save."
• "Each game is going to get more challenging, and now we have to face a top 25 team in Gustavus, who has had a full week to prepare for us. That team has been winning year over year, and are so difficult to play against. It will take everything we have to compete with them."
