ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- Megan Hensel (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) tied the game with a goal from Jayla Ponce (SR, Kuna, Idaho/Kuna HS) in the 52nd minute, as the Augsburg University women's soccer team claimed a 1-1 tie with the College of Saint Benedict in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Wednesday afternoon.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Augsburg 1, Saint Benedict 1
LOCATION: College Avenue Field, St. Joseph, Minn.
RECORDS: Augsburg 6-1-2 overall (1-1-2 MIAC), Saint Benedict 4-3-1 overall (2-1-1 MIAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Bennies took the lead with a goal just before halftime, but Augsburg tied the game seven minutes into the second half. Ponce took a pass off a steal by Samantha Meyer (JR, Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) near midfield, eluded a defender up the right wing, and slotted the ball perfectly to Hensel in the middle, and Hensel slid her shot past the goalkeeper for her third goal of the season. The assist was Ponce's seventh of the season, a total that leads all MIAC players. Ponce's 15 points (four goals, seven assists) are third-most among MIAC players.
• Augsburg was outshot by a 19-12 margin in the game. The Bennies had 12 shots on-goal to Augsburg's four, but goalkeeper Iz Shuster (SR, Waconia, Minn./Waconia HS) came up with a career-high 11 saves to preserve the draw.
• Ponce led the Auggies with five shots, while Hensel, McKenna Nachreiner (FY, Wauakee, Wis./Waunakee HS) and Phoebe Alva Rosa (SO, Jackson, Wyo./Jackson Hole HS) had two shots each in the game.

• Addison Stephani scored from Ellie Piette in the 44th minute for Saint Benedict.
