MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University volleyball team hosted the 17
th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in nonconference action on Saturday evening, falling in four sets to the Pointers at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Pointers opened a 13-5 lead in the first set that proved to be too much to overcome as they cruised to a 25-11 set win. The Auggies were far more competitive in set two and trailed by just two at 21-19, but the Pointers rattled off four straight points to win the set and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
• The Auggies controlled a majority of the third set, working out to a 21-14 advantage late before coasting to a 25-19 set win to force a fourth set. UW-Stevens Point took care of business in the fourth and final set, winning 25-16 to claim the match 3-1.
• The Pointers featured the more efficient attack, hitting .223 as a team compared to Augsburg's .119. Each team finished with 53 total digs while the Auggies held an 8-3 edge in blocks.

Emily Kaup (JR, Omaha, Neb./Duchesne Academy) finished as the only Auggie hitter in double digits, logging 10 kills and six digs while hitting .235.
Madison Gully (JR, Cedar, Minn./St. Francis HS) was second on the team with eight kills.
• Defensively,
Torrie Rehder (JR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) was the anchor with 15 digs and four set assists.
Jovial King (FY, Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS) was the team's top setter with 17 assists while
Angel Vo (JR, Blaine, Minn./Mounds View HS) finished with 10.
FOR THE FOES
• Ashley Kopp led all players in the match with 20 kills while hitting .366, also adding 14 digs for the double-double.

• The Auggies will continue nonconference action at UW-River Falls on Tuesday (10/3) at 5 pm before returning to MIAC play against Saint Mary's on Friday (10/6) at 7 pm.
