MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University volleyball team wrapped up play at the Augsburg Invitational on Saturday afternoon, going 1-1 with a 3-1 win over Lakeland University (Wis.) and a 3-0 loss to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

AUGSBURG 3, LAKELAND 1
• After dropping a hotly-contested first set, Augsburg took control of the match with consecutive wins in sets two, three, and four with each win more dominant than the last.
• The Auggie attack had its most efficient outing of the tournament, hitting .333 as a team with 54 kills and just 13 errors on 123 attempts. The Lakeland attack was less effective, hitting at a clip of just .181.
• Augsburg also held a decisive advantage on serves, logging 13 aces to Lakeland's one.

Bri Van Well (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) tallied a team-high 19 kills in the match while hitting .279.
Emily Kaup (JR, Omaha, Neb./Duchesne Academy) registered an 11-kill, 13-dig double-double in the match while hitting an efficient .300.

Brier Ziemer (SO, Carver, Minn./Chaska HS) led the defensive effort with 16 digs while
Angel Vo (JR, Blaine, Minn./Mounds View HS) was the go-to setter with 31 assists.
UW-LA CROSSE 3, AUGSBURG 0
• All three sets were back-and-forth affairs in the Auggies' second match of the day, but it was the Eagles managing to close out stronger on each occasion. Sets two and three both wound up knotted at 24 each, but UW-La Crosse claimed the final two points in each set to secure the sweep.
• The Augsburg attack did not fare as well in its second match, hitting just .176 with 39 kills and 16 errors on 131 attempts. By comparison, the Eagles hit .242 with 46 kills and 16 errors on 124 attempts.
• Kaup and Van Well led the team with 10 kills each, also matching each other with three digs. Van Well was the team's most efficient hitter, logging a .258 hitting percentage.

Torrie Rehder (JR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) was the anchor with 19 digs.
Bria Sandifer (SR, St. Paul, Minn./North St. Paul HS) also finished in double figures with 10.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
• Van Well was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts on the weekend. In total, she logged 51 kills while hitting .207.
FOR THE FOES
• Susana Stevens and Caitlyn Pernsteiner led the Muskies with 16 and 14 kills, respectively.
• Brianne Korducki and Gabrialla Johnson each finished with double-doubles for the Eagles, tallying 13 and 11 kills and 11 and 13 digs, respectively.

• The Auggies will head to La Crosse, Wis. for the UW-La Crosse Invitational next weekend where they will face Minnesota Morris on Friday (9/15) and both Martin Luther and Simpson on Saturday (9/16).
