MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Augsburg University men's basketball team took on Concordia College-Moorhead in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Monday evening, falling to the Cobbers 73-64 despite a second-half rally that saw them briefly take the lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies held a narrow advantage for most of the game's opening minutes, but the Cobbers broke a 14-14 tie with just over 12 minutes on the clock and carried the lead for the remainder of the half as they headed to the locker room up 36-32.
• With Augsburg trailing 54-51 with 8:26 on the clock,
Ali Axmed (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) nailed a triple and drew a foul on the play, hitting the free throw to cap off the four-point play and give Augsburg a 55-54 lead following a 10-4 scoring run. That proved to be the end of the surge, however, as the Cobbers quickly regained the advantage and pushed it to nine as the final buzzer sounded.
• The Auggies held an edge in the turnover margin, committing nine to Concordia's 11. They capitalized on it in the scoring column as well, outscoring the Cobbers 12-7 off turnovers. Augsburg's bench provided another advantage, outscoring that of Concordia's 24-19.

Colin Meade (SR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) finished atop the score sheet for the Auggies, scoring 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting and pulling down four rebounds.
Will Blascziek (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) was the only other Auggie in double figures with 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting, also adding four rebounds.

Trent Gomez (FY, Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) finished third on the team with eight points while Axmed and
Austin Jentzen (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn. St. Michael-Albertville HS) added seven each off the bench.
FOR THE FOES
• Jacob Cook and Matt Johnson paced the Cobber offense with 22 and 20 points, respectively.
