MINNEAPOLIS – Michael Ferrandino (JR, Lisle, Ill./Waterloo West (Iowa) HS) scored a power-play goal midway through the first period for Augsburg University, but it was the lone goal for the Auggies in a 4-1 nonconference men's hockey loss to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Tuesday evening.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Wisconsin-River Falls 4, Augsburg 1
LOCATION: Ed Saugestad Rink, Minneapolis
RECORDS: Augsburg 7-7-1 overall, UW-River Falls 11-6-0 overall

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Ferrandino tied the game at 1-1 with his second goal of the season at the 12:33 mark of the first period. His rising shot attempt from the point rebounded off the back wall and in front of the goal, deflecting off a UW-River Falls defender and into the net. Fritz Belisle (SR, Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing HS) and Erik Palmqvist (SR, Linkoping, Sweden/Anderstorpsgymnasiet) assisted on the goal.
• UW-River Falls took the lead back with a goal less than two minutes later, and added single goals in the second and third periods to claim the victory.
• Augsburg outshot the Falcons by a 35-28 margin in the game. Making his second collegiate start in goal, Josh Koziol (SO, Elk River, Minn./Elk River HS) had 10 saves in 42 minutes, with Samuel Vyletelka (JR, Zilina, Slovakia/Grammar School of St. Francis of Assisi) recording 14 saves in relief.
