MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University women's basketball team hosted Bethel University in the season series finale between the teams on Wednesday evening, falling 66-49 to the Royals at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game's opening quarter remained close with neither team leading by more than three at any point, but it was the Auggies holding a 14-13 advantage at the first buzzer. The Royals outscored the Auggies 20-14 in the second quarter, taking a 33-28 lead to halftime.
• The Auggies managed to trim the deficit to a single point at 33-32 with 7:58 remaining in the third, but the Royals quickly regrouped to push their lead back to double digits. Bethel maintained the advantage throughout the fourth, cruising to the 66-49 win.

Katie Manecke (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) finished as Augsburg's scoring leader with 12 points on 3-of-7 shooting.
Anja Smith (SR, Keawaskum, Wis./Saint Mary's Springs HS) was just behind her with 11 points, five rebounds, and four steals.

Kalena Myers (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) also reached double figures with 10 points, four steals, and three rebounds.
FOR THE FOES
• Rosalie Penke led all scorers in the game with 18 points and nine rebounds for the Royals.
• Anna Garfield notched a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double.
