MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University volleyball team capped off a perfect Homecoming weekend with a 3-0 sweep of St. Olaf College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday evening at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies were efficient from the opening serve, hitting .322 as a team with 48 kills and just 10 errors on 118 attacks. St. Olaf hit just .197 with 41 kills in the match. Augsburg also held a 5-2 edge in aces, a 5-3 edge in blocks, and a 59-49 advantage in digs.

Ava Carlson (FY, Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) nearly posted a double-double, leading the Auggie offense with 13 kills on .542 hitting while adding nine digs.
Madison Gully (SR, Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis HS) finished second on the team, tying her career-high with 12 kills on .348 hitting.

Bri Van Well (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) also reached double figures on offense, tallying 10 kills on .233 hitting to go along with nine digs.

Torrie Rehder (SR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) anchored the defensive effort with 15 digs and three set assists. Van Well and
Elizabeth Oster (SO, Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) led the team with three block assists each.

Angel Vo (SR, Blaine, Minn./Mounds View HS) and
Jovial King (SO, Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS) split time pacing the Auggie offense, collecting 18 and 23 set assists with seven and five digs, respectively.
• Trailing 22-221 late in the opening set, the Auggies claimed four of the following five points to win the set 25-23. Augsburg dominated the second set, quickly working out to an 8-1 lead and never looking back on the way to a 25-14 set win. St. Olaf looked poised to take the third frame with a 23-22 lead late in the set, but the Auggies won three straight points punctuated by a service ace from Van Well to win the set 25-23 and complete the sweep.
FOR THE FOES
• Carlie Beckstrand led the Ole offense with 12 kills on .435 hitting.
• Lilah Van Scoyoc and Moran Ryan had 10 digs each to lead St. Olaf on defense.
