Auggies split matches with Wisconsin schools

MINNEAPOLIS – Bri Van Well (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) recorded 33 kills with 13 digs in a pair of matches, as her Augsburg University volleyball team split nonconference matches in a quadrangular on Saturday afternoon, falling to the No. 18-ranked University of Wisconsin-Platteville in three sets and topping the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in five sets.

UW-PLATTEVILLE 3, AUGSBURG 0
• Augsburg kept the match close with the Pioneers, ranked No. 18 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III national poll. But the Pioneers pulled away on the strength of a .314 team attacking percentage, while the Auggies hit just .188. 
• Van Well had 14 kills to lead the Auggies, hitting .333 in the match. She added a service ace and eight digs. Ava Carlson (FY, Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) had nine kills, five digs and three block assists, and Taylor Hoehns (JR, Cedar Falls, Iowa/Dike-New Hartford HS) had six kills. Elizabeth Oster (SO, Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) had four blocks (one solo), and Madison Gully (SR, Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis HS) had five kills.
Jovial King (SO, Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS) had 16 assists and four digs, and.Angel Vo (SR, Blaine, Minn./Mounds View HS) had 15 assists and four digs. Torrie Rehder (SR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) had 15 digs.

AUGSBURG 3, UW-RIVER FALLS 2
• The second match of the day was a back-and-forth affair, with 29 ties and 12 lead changes. Augsburg's hitting exploded in the deciding set, as the Auggies hit .407, with 12 kills and only one error in 27 swings. The Auggies also converted a 90-percent sideout percentage (10-of-11) in the final set.
• Van Well had another strong all-around performance, with 19 kills on .226 hitting, adding two service aces and five digs.
• Hohens contributed 14 kills and four digs, and Gully had 11 kills and a block assist. Carlson claimed nine kills and nine digs, and middle blocker Sierra Washington (JR, Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) had four blocks (two solo) to go along with three kills.
• Vo had her ninth assist/dig double-double of the season, with 29 assists and 10 digs, adding five service aces. King had 22 assists and nine digs, and Rehder had her sixth 20-plus-dig effort of the year, with 24 digs.

FOR THE FOES
• Brooklyn Radecke led the way for UW-Platteville, with 17 kills on .419 hitting, adding seven digs.
• Lauren Noth led UW-River Falls with 15 kills and 18 digs.
