QUOTES FROM AUGSBURG HEAD COACH GREG HOLKER
• "Macalester is a tremendous team and they play in a way that we admire and respect, so to win at their place on the final MIAC night was special. It took a special goal from Remus to make it happen in the end, but the entire group stayed committed to each other and the task at hand even after we went down a goal."
• "When Cody scored on that early second half counter attack, it was a punch to the gut, but our response was strong and swift.
Joseph Swallen found a channel to play
Muhammed Keita in and Mo took the chance calmly to get us level eight minutes after going down."
• "We were really on it in the lead up to our second goal, pinning Macalester back in their half. Ceazar's deep runs were dangerous again and he finally got a cross off that found a target in Remus who hit an absolute screamer off his shoulder to win it. Left back to right back was an appropriate goal for this team and those two players. We are not scared to go forward and take risks, that's for sure."
• "There was more drama when Ceazar was knocked down from behind and handled the ball on the top of our own box. Frankie's save on that penalty decision with nine minutes to go was so important for us. After that, we dodged a few Nick Kent chances and just hung on to get the points. Frankie is so good, and he keeps getting better every game with these vital saves.
• "I thought Cha Vang and
Anson Karn were outstanding off the bench and
Christopher Plaza and
Eric Riera helped us immensely as well."
• "This group has improved so much in the last few years, climbing the MIAC standings and only losing two regular season games in the last two seasons. That's pretty incredible, and our reward is the opportunity to host the MIAC quarterfinal on Monday. Our opponent won't be confirmed until tomorrow, but if the past few years are any indication, we will see Macalester once again."
