Auggies edged in overtime in Dubuque final

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Augsburg University men's hockey team built a 3-1 lead after two periods, but Aurora University rallied to tie the game and took a 5-4 victory 37 seconds into overtime in the final of the Key City Collegiate Classic on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Dylan Schneider (SR, Rochester, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) scored Augsburg's first and last goals of the game, while Conner Schneider (FY, Sun Prairie, Wis./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) scored his first two collegiate goals, adding an assist for a three-point night.
Graham Harris (FY, Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka HS) had two assists on the night, with Zachary Reim (FY, Shoreview, Minn./Gentry Academy) earned his first collegiate point with an assist.
• Aurora outshot Augsburg by a 35-27 margin, including a 23-14 advantage in the final two periods of regulation. Goalie Carsen Stokes (SO, Prior Lake, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) had 30 saves for the Auggies.

FOR THE FOES
• Landry Schmuck scored the game-tying goal at the 13:24 mark of the third period, then won the game with an unassisted goal 37 seconds into overtime. Matt Weber had a goal and two assists.
• Jacob Mucitelli had 23 saves in goal for the Spartans.

• Augsburg opens Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play next weekend with a two-game home series against Concordia College-Moorhead at Ed Saugestad Rink.
