Auggies stopped in 2OT at North Central

MINNEAPOLIS -- The North Central University men's basketball team rallied in the second half and in two overtimes, edging visiting Augsburg University 87-85 in a nonconference game on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg led North Central 36-27 at halftime, but the Rams outscored the Auggies 45-36 in the second half, tying the game at 72-72 on a layup with 16 seconds left to force overtime. The Rams led 80-76 with 1:18 left in the first overtime, but the Auggies outscored the Rams 6-2 in the closing minute, with Trent Gomez (SO, Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) tying the game at 82-82 with a jumper from the baseline at the buzzer. North Central outscored the Auggies 5-3 in the second overtime, as the Auggies missed a pair of shots in the final 47 seconds.
• Will Blascziek (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) led the Auggies with a double-double, scoring 21 points with 10 rebounds and two blocked shots. He hit three 3-pointers in the game.
• Elias Batala (SO, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) scored 19 points with nine rebounds and three assists, and Axmed scored 14 points with four rebounds.
Trent Gomez (SO, Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) scored 10 points with four rebounds and two assists, Mario Adams (SO, Eagan, Minn./Eastview HS) scored eight points with four rebounds, and Julien Hussherr (JR, Strasbourt, Alsace, France/Episcopal Saint Etienne HS) scored seven points with five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
 
FOR THE FOES
• Carrington McNeal led all players with 31 points and nine rebounds, adding three steals, a block and an assist.
• Malik Siggers scored 15 points with five rebounds for the Rams, and Josh Hoffman had four blocked shots.
