ST. PETER, Minn. -- The Gustavus Adolphus College men's basketball team used a 20-point swing in the final 12 minutes of the first half to take a double-digit lead, which it would not relinquish in a 97-74 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over visiting Augsburg University on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg jumped out to an early advantage, building a 25-15 lead with 11:57 remaining in the first half. But Gustavus used a 12-0 run over the next 2:50 to take a 27-25 lead, an advantage that would expand to 50-40 at halftime. The Gusties then pulled away to lead by as many as 27 points in the second half.

Elias Batala (SO, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) led Augsburg in scoring with a 12-point effort, while
Myles Adams (SO, Eagan, Minn./Eastview HS) scored 11 points.

Will Blascziek (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) scored nine points, as did
Trent Gomez (SO, Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS), who added a team-best six rebounds and three assists.
Caden Sullivan (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS) came off the bench to score eight points.
• Gustavus hit 58.1 percent (36-of-62) from the field, compared to 48.3 percent (29-of-60) for Augsburg. The Gusties outrebounded the Auggies by a 37-22 margin and claimed 54 points in the paint, compared to 40 for Augsburg.
FOR THE FOES
• Spencer Swanson had game highs of 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead Gustavus.
• Wyatt Olson scored 19 points with five rebounds and two assists.
