ST. PETER, Minn. – Despite being outshot by a 40-19 margin, the Augsburg University women's hockey team took advantage of its four goals scored in the first 24:04 of action, claiming a 4-1 win at Gustavus Adolphus College in a split of a huge Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey series on Saturday afternoon.

• Augsburg, ranked No. 8 in the latest USCHO.com and No. 7 in the latest D-III Hockey News Division III national polls, scored twice in the first period and twice in the second period to claim the win over the Gusties, ranked No. 5 and No. 4 in the national polls.

Jenna Allen (FY, Minnetonka, Minn./Holy Family Catholic HS) opened the scoring for the Auggies with a power-play goal 6:37 into play, firing a wrister from the top of the left faceoff circle on an assist from
Emma Abrahamson (SO, Carpentersville, Ill./Hampshire HS).

Emily Schoeberl (JR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) gave the Auggies a 2-0 lead at the 13:19 mark, scoring on a loose puck in front off a rebound of a
Kate Haug (JR, Roseville, Minn./Roseville HS).
Mei Diesing (FY, Arlington Heights, Ill./TPH Academy Chicago) also assisted on the goal.
• Augsburg scored twice in a 1;04 span early in the second period to take a commanding lead.
Emily Cronkhite (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) scored on a 1-on-1 break, putting home a rebound off her own shot, with Haug getting the assist. Sixty-four seconds later,
Grace Bonnell (SO, Madison, Wis./Memorial HS) pounced on a loose puck off a Gustie clearing attempt and slammed home a shot for her third goal of the season.

Kayla Simonson (FY, Delano, Minn./Delano HS) rebounded from her first loss of the season on Friday night with an outstanding effort in goal, with a season-high 39 saves to score the win. She had 70 saves on 73 shots faced on the weekend.
• Allen had five shots on-goal, to go along with three blocked shots.
Tenley Stewart (JR, Esko, Minn./Esko HS) also had three blocked shots.
FOR THE FOES
• Abby Elliott scored a power-play goal midway through the second period for Gustavus.
• Gustie goalie Lily Timmons had 15 saves.
