Men's hoops drops 90-66 decision at Gustavus

ST. PETER, Minn. – The Augsburg University men's basketball team traveled to the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College on Monday evening to make up a game that was originally scheduled for January 20 before being postponed, falling to the Golden Gusties 90-66 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Gustavus quickly worked out to a 9-0 lead to open the game, eventually pushing the advantage to 22 points at halftime with a score of 54-32. The deficit would never shrink beneath 18 points throughout the second half as the Gusties cruised to victory.
• Augsburg hit on 26 of its 53 total field goal attempts (49.1%), including a 9-of-21 performance from beyond the arc (42.9%). The Gusties were slightly more efficient in each category, shooting 52.3% from the field (34-of-65) and 52.6% from deep (10-of-19).
• Will Blascziek (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) led the Auggies with 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting and added three rebounds and two assists, reaching double figures in scoring for the 13th time this season.
• Isaac Rabaey (JR, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) finished with 12 points and four rebounds, connecting on five of his seven shot attempts. Coming off the bench, Austin Jentzen (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) was the only other Auggie in double figures with 10 points and five rebounds on a perfect 4-of-4 from the field.
 
FOR THE FOES
• Brady Kienitz led all players in the game with 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting for the Gusties.

UP NEXT
• The Auggies will wrap up their season at Macalester on Saturday (2/17) with tip off scheduled for 3 pm following the women's game.
