HOW IT HAPPENED
• Tied 2-2 with 4:24 remaining in regulation time, Yeo gave the Auggies the lead to stay with his sixth goal of the season, scoring on a rebound in the slot off a blocked shot by
Dylan Schneider (JR, Rochester, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS), following a break up the ice started by
Cade Stibbe (SO, Fargo, N.D./Fargo Davies HS).Â
• In contrast to Friday's 6-0 Auggie win, Saturday's game was a back-and-forth, evenly-matched affair, as the Saints outshot the Auggies by a 37-35 margin, with the teams trading goals. Auggie goalieÂ
Samuel Vyletelka (JR, Zilina, Slovakia/Grammar School of St. Francis of Assisi) had 35 saves in goal to pick up the victory -- his 17th game with 30 or more saves this season.
• The Auggies struck first, as Parker scored his fifth goal of the season at the 13:45 mark of the first period, tipping the puck off the pipe and into the net on a shot from the point by
Logan Kons (SR, Niles, Ill./Niles West HS).
• The Saints tied the game at 1-1, and Augsburg took the lead back at the 15:28 mark of the second period.
Nick Catalano (SO, Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead Union HS) fed a streaking Parker from the left halfwall to the slot. Parker slid the puck to his right for a one-timer by Hanson for his sixth goal of the year.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The Auggies finished the regular season on a seven-game (6-0-1) unbeaten streak to earn the top seed in the five-team MIAC postseason playoffs. The Auggies, winners of 12 MIAC regular-season titles in school history and four since the 2015-16 season, will be in the MIAC playoffs for the ninth full season in a row.
• Augsburg will host a MIAC semifinal game next Saturday (2/24) at 7 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink, facing the winner of Thursday's first-round game between No. 5-seed St. Olaf and No. 4-seed Saint Mary's. Should the Auggies win in the semifinals, it would host the playoff title game on Saturday, March 2 at 7 p.m., facing the winner of the other semifinal between No. 3-seed St. Scholastica and No. 2-seed Bethel. The winner would receive the MIAC's automatic bid to the 13-team NCAA Division III national tournament.
