Smith, Myers earn MIAC honors

MINNEAPOLIS – Augsburg University women's basketball's Anja Smith (SR, Kewaskum, Wis./Saint Mary's Springs HS) earned All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors while Kalena Myers (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) was named an All-Conference Honorable Mention, it was announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

The selection marks the third career MIAC honor for Smith, having been named All-MIAC, All-MIAC Honorable Mention, and MIAC Sixth Player of the Year in prior seasons. For Myers, the honorable mention nod is the second of her career after being named an honorable mention in 2021-22.

Anja SmithSmith appeared in 20 games in her senior campaign, starting all 20. She averaged 13.1 points per-game throughout the season, putting her eighth in the conference in scoring average. Her average of 5.6 rebounds per-game led the team and ranked 11th in the conference, while her 41.6% shooting percentage was 13th-best in the MIAC.

Throughout her career, including two seasons at Division II Grand Valley State, Smith scored a total of 993 points and pulled down 419 rebounds. Smith also holds the single-game scoring record for the Auggies with a 39-point performance against the College of Saint Benedict on January 15, 2022.

Kalena MyersMyers played in all 23 games for the Auggies this season, starting all of them. She averaged 10.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per-game, and led the team with 76 steals, a mark that ranked first in the conference by 25 and put her 40th in all of Division III.

During her career, Myers tallied 805 points, 258 rebounds, and 213 steals, the third-most in Augsburg women's basketball history.

Under ninth-year Head Coach Ted Riverso, the Auggies finished the season 8-15 overall and 7-13 in MIAC play.
