NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Getting a go-ahead basket from Will Blascziek (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) with under 10 seconds remaining in the game, the Augsburg University men's basketball team knocked off the Carleton College Knights in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Monday evening at West Gym.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Augsburg 82, Carleton 81
LOCATION: West Gym, Northfield, Minn.
RECORDS: Augsburg 8-13 overall (6-10 MIAC), Carleton 13-8 overall (10-6 MIAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies shot the ball well in the first half, hitting 16 of their 30 attempts from the field (53.3%) including 7-of-13 from beyond the arc (53.8%), leading to a 45-42 lead at halftime after holding the advantage for nearly 17 minutes.
• The Auggie lead ballooned to 11 points at 60-49 early in the second half, but the Knights put together a 12-1 scoring run from that point and managed to tie the game at 61 each with just under 12 minutes to play. The remainder of the game proved to be a tight contest with neither team leading by more than three at any point.
• Trailing by three with 1:46 to play, a pair of free throws from Caden Scales (SR, Richfield, Minn./Eastview HS) cut the Auggie deficit to a single point with 1:30 on the clock. Six scoreless possession changes later with under 10 seconds left in regulation, Colin Meade (SR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) came down with a rebound following a Carleton free throw and got the ball ahead to Scales. Scales dished the ball to Blascziek, who drove the lane, Euro stepped past a defender, and sank a short-range jumper to put Augsburg on top for the final time.

• Scales had one of his strongest nights as an Auggie, posting a new career-high 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting to go along with three rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
Trent Gomez (FY, Two Harbors, Minn./Tow Harbors HS) and Blascziek had 14 and 11 points, respectively, with two steals each, and Meade was just shy of a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds. Isaac Rabaey (JR, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) rounded out the starters with six points, four rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.
Ali Axmed (Lakeville, Minn./North HS) led the effort off the bench for Augsburg, reaching double figures for the first time in his career with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Austin Jentzen (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) added six points, five rebounds, a blocked shot, and a team-leading five assists.

FOR THE FOES
• Matt Banovetz logged a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double for the Knights.
