Augsburg falls 10-7 to UW-Stout

MINNEAPOLIS – In a tightly contested women's lacrosse game on Wednesday afternoon, the University of Wisconsin-Stout was able to pull away in the second half for a 10-7 nonconference win over host Augsburg University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game was an even one throughout, as Augsburg took a 1-0 first quarter advantage on a Abaigeal Luallen (SO, Pensacola, Fla./Pensacola HS), and two Jade Wilson (SO, Waukee, Iowa/Northwest HS) goals in the second quarter brought the game to a 3-3 tie at halftime. Four straight UW-Stout goals overlapping the end of the third and start of the fourth quarters gave the Blue Devils their biggest lead at 9-5. Goals by Eleanor Flynn (SO, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) and Wilson cut into the lead, but the Auggies could not get the advantage closer than three goals. 
• Wilson scored four goals with an assist for a five-point night, giving her a team- and Midwest Lacrosse Conference-leading 17 goals through her first four games of the season. She also had six draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers in the game.
• Flynn had a goal and an assist, adding a draw control and a ground ball. In addition to her goal, Luallen had two ground balls in the game.
Alexa Hoffman (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) scored a goal, adding three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Leila Klym (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) had an assist with three ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover.
• Mackenzie Galazen (JR, Kimball, Minn./Rocori HS) contributed two ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover, while Emma Meythaler (JR, Golden Valley, Minn./Hopkins HS) had three ground balls and a caused turnover. Kayla Courtney (SR, Maplewood, Minn./Roseville HS) had two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
• Goalie Nicole Schuster (SO, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) recorded 10 saves with three ground balls.
• UW-Stout outshot Augsburg by a 26-18 margin in the game, and had 29 ground balls to the Auggies' 27. Augsburg held a 13-7 advantage in draw controls.

FOR THE FOES
• Mai Nou Vang scored four goals with an assist for five points to lead UW-Stout, adding two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
• Megan Palmer and Ally Crymble scored two goals each, with Palmer notching six draw controls and five caused turnoves, and Crymble contributing five ground balls and four caused turnovers.
