Auggies drop 13-5 decision to Eagles

MINNEAPOLIS -- Outshot by a 43-15 margin, the Augsburg University women's lacrosse team suffered a 13-5 Midwest Lacrosse Conference defeat at the hands of the University of Northwestern-St. Paul on Wednesday evening at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Northwestern outshot Augsburg by a 35-5 margin through the first three quarters, taking an 11-0 lead into the final stanza. Augsburg outshot the Eagles 10-8 and claimed five goals to Northwestern's two in the fourth quarter.
• Augsburg goalie Nicole Schuster (SO, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) tied a career high with 19 saves, adding three ground balls and a caused turnover.
• Playing with just 12 players due to injuries, the Auggies turned the ball over 32 times to Northwestern's 18. Northwestern was a perfect 16-for-16 on clearing attempts, compared to 10-for-29 by the Auggies. The Eagles had 32 ground balls to the Auggies' 17.
Alexa Hoffman (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) scored three goals, adding three draw controls, to lead the Auggies.
Jessica Paul (SO, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS), a transfer from Northwestern, scored a goal for Augsburg, while Beatriz Sandoval Gomez (JR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) scored a goal with a caused turnover.
Kayla Courtney (SR, Maplewood, Minn./Roseville HS) had four ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover. 
Emma Meythaler (JR, Golden Valley, Minn./Hopkins HS) had four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Eleanor Flynn (SO, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS), Leila Klym (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) and Abaigeal Luallen (SO, Pensacola, Fla./Pensacola HS) each had assists, with Klym contributinog two draw controls, two caused turnovers and a ground ball. Luallen also had a ground ball. Isabella Kohout (SO, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) had three draw controls and a ground ball.

FOR THE FOES
• Ainsley Thompson scored four goals with two ground balls to lead Northwestern.
• Maddie Hauer scored three goals with six draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
