MINNEAPOLIS -- After dropping a 7-0 decision to St. Olaf College in the opener, the Augsburg University softball team bounced back with a 4-3 victory in the second game of a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Thursday at Edor Nelson Field.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg was limited to three hits in the first game -- a single by
Katie Manecke (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) in the first inning, a single by
Libby Moore (SR, Springville, Iowa/Springville HS) in the second, and a single by
Zoie Johnson (JR, Carlton, Minn./Esko HS) in the fourth.
• St. Olaf scored four runs in the third inning, sending nine batters to the plate and collecting four hits, including a three-run homer by Anne Fossum. Jaelyn Orth hit a solo homer in the sixth, and two more runs came across in the seventh.

Olivia O'Connor (SR, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) struck out three against three walks for the Auggies.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg rallied from a 3-1, second-inning deficit with a run in the third inning and two runs in the fourth to claim the victory.
• In the bottom of the first, Manecke walked, moved to second on a single by
Lola Pilon (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Mounds Park Academy HS), and scored on a single by
Olivia Hennager (SO, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS).
• Hennager got her second RBI of the game in the third inning, driving in Johnson on a two-out double to right field.
• The Auggies took the lead in the fourth inning.
Jaime Olson (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) led off with a single, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and groundout, and scored on an RBI single to left by Manecke. Pilon then connected on her sixth double of the season to plate Manecke.

Morgann Paaske (JR, Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central HS) improved to 11-3 on the season with her eighth complete-game pitching effort, striking out three against three walks and two hits. She had 54 strikes among her 94 pitches.
• Pilon and Hennager had two hits each for the Auggies in the second game. Moore and
Jayden Evenson (SO, Mosinee, Wis./Mosinee HS) hit doubles for the Auggies.
FOR THE FOES
• Medora Rylee, Shreya Ashok, Maya Patty and Jenna Peschel had two hits each for St. Olaf in the first game.
• Jaelyn Orth had two strikeouts against two walks in the first game pitching win.
