THE BASICS

GAME ONE: BETHEL 7, AUGSBURG 2
• The Royals jumped out to a 7-0 lead to open the game, scoring runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Carter Peterson (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) put the Auggies on the board in the sixth inning, hitting an RBI single to right field that allowed Lance Nayman (SR, St. Paul, Minn./Central HS) to score.
Ty Gage (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) provided Augsburg with another RBI single in the seventh that scored Andruw Vela (FY, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS), but that proved to be all the offense the Auggies would find in game one.
Austin Lang (SO, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) started the game on the mound for Augsburg and was ultimately charged with the loss, going four innings and giving up eight hits and five earned runs while striking out two against just one walk.
Stanley Regguinti (SO, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) logged the only multi-hit game for the Auggies, going 2-for-4.

GAME TWO: BETHEL 10, AUGSBURG 9 (suspended in 12th inning, completed 4/24)
• Vela started the scoring for the Auggies with an RBI single in the second inning of game two, but the Royals matched him with a run in the second and three more in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead.
• Augsburg put together a massive fifth inning, scoring eight runs to take a 9-4 lead. RBI singles came off the bats of Regguinti, Lang, and Drew Jenkins (SO, Farmington, Minn./Randolph HS) and one more run was scored off a Bethel fielding error. Vela capped off the inning in a big way, crushing a three-run homer to left center to put the Auggies up eight. The Royals would go on to score three in the fifth and two in the eighth, eventually sending the game to extra innings in a 9-9 tie.
• With neither team able to break the tie in the ninth, 10th, or 11th innings, the game was halted ahead of the 12th inning due to darkness.
