ARDEN HILLS, Minn. –The Augsburg University baseball team traveled to the campus of Bethel University for a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Tuesday, dropping game one 7-2 before the second game was suspended in a 9-9 tie in the 12
th inning due to darkness. When game two resumed the following afternoon, the Royals managed to hold the Auggies scoreless before walking the game off with a run in the bottom of the 12th.

GAME ONE: BETHEL 7, AUGSBURG 2
• The Royals jumped out to a 7-0 lead to open the game, scoring runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings.
Carter Peterson (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) put the Auggies on the board in the sixth inning, hitting an RBI single to right field that allowed
Lance Nayman (SR, St. Paul, Minn./Central HS) to score.

Ty Gage (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) provided Augsburg with another RBI single in the seventh that scored
Andruw Vela (FY, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS), but that proved to be all the offense the Auggies would find in game one.

Austin Lang (SO, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) started the game on the mound for Augsburg and was ultimately charged with the loss, going four innings and giving up eight hits and five earned runs while striking out two against just one walk.

Stanley Regguinti (SO, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) logged the only multi-hit game for the Auggies, going 2-for-4.
GAME TWO: BETHEL 10, AUGSBURG 9 (suspended in 12th inning, completed 4/24)
• Vela started the scoring for the Auggies with an RBI single in the second inning of game two, but the Royals matched him with a run in the second and three more in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead.
• Augsburg put together a massive fifth inning, scoring eight runs to take a 9-4 lead. RBI singles came off the bats of Regguinti, Lang, and
Drew Jenkins (SO, Farmington, Minn./Randolph HS) and one more run was scored off a Bethel fielding error. Vela capped off the inning in a big way, crushing a three-run homer to left center to put the Auggies up eight. The Royals would go on to score three in the fifth and two in the eighth, eventually sending the game to extra innings in a 9-9 tie.
• With neither team able to break the tie in the ninth, 10
th, or 11
th innings, the game was halted ahead of the 12
th inning due to darkness.
• When the game resumed on Wednesday afternoon, the Auggies went down in order in the top of the 12th before Bethel managed a run in the bottom half of the frame to walk it off 10-9.

Jake Skogrand (JR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakoppe HS) made the start at pitcher in game two, giving up eight hits and four earned runs in 4.2 innings of work. Reliever
Caleb Tays (FY, Spring Lake Park, Minn./Spring Lake Park HS) was ultimately charged with the loss, closing the game and giving up one hit and a single unearned run.
• Vela finished the game 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored.
FOR THE FOES
• Bethel shortstop Zach Thompson went 4-for-7 in the series with three RBI and two runs scored.
