Auggies compete at Gary Wilson Invite

MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University men's and women's track and field teams competed in their first of two scheduled meets this week on Wednesday afternoon, participating in the Gary Wilson Invitational on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Allison Hookom (SO, Andover, Minn./Anoka HS) secured a top-five finish in the 400-meter dash, placing fifth with a time of 58.08 seconds.
Takia Campbell (FY, Eagan, Minn./Burnsville HS) was the lone other competitor for the Auggie women, placing 37th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.85 seconds. 

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Getinat Asfaw (SR, Eagan, Minn./Rosemount HS) was the top overall finisher for the Augsburg men, placing 17th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.18, his fastest clocking so far this season. Shareef Oty (FY, Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville HS) also participated in the event, setting a personal record with a time of 2:01.06.
Nasiruddin Shariff (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Edina HS) set a pair of personal records, clocking times of 11.93 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 24.93 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
Kameron Smith (FY, Arlington, Texas/Mansfield Summit HS) participated in the sprints and jumps, placing 24th in the long jump with a distance of 5.90 meters and placing 32nd in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.48 seconds.

UP NEXT
• The Auggies will compete at the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational this Saturday, April 27 on the campus of Macalester College.
