Auggie bats silenced by Bennies

MINNEAPOLIS -- Limited to just four hits in the doubleheader, the Augsburg University softball team dropped a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader to the College of Saint Benedict on Saturday afternoon, losing by a pair of 9-0 scores.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• The Bennies cracked open a close game in the top of the sixth inning, sending 12 batters to the plate and scoring seven runs on seven hits, with a grand slam by Megan Erickson and a solo homer by Olivia Tatges. The game ended after six innings via the NCAA eight-run rule.
• Augsburg was limited to three hits in the game -- a double by Torrie Rehder (JR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) to lead off the bottom of the first inning, a single by Lola Pilon (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Mounds Park Academy HS) in the first and a bunt single by Jayden Evenson (SO, Mosinee, Wis./Mosinee HS) in the sixth.
Libby Moore (SR, Springville, Iowa/Springville HS) and Olivia O'Connor (SR, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) pitched for the Auggies in the first game.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg was held to just one hit in the second game, which concluded after five innings. Olivia Hennager (SO, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) led off the fifth inning with a single to centerfield. The Auggies had just two baserunners in the game, with Pilon reaching base on a walk in the fourth inning.
• Pitchers Morgann Paaske (JR, Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central HS) and O'Connor saw action in the game.

FOR THE FOES
• Erickson had three hits, scored two runs and had six RBI in the doubleheader for Saint Benedict.
• Bryn Ruhberg had four hits, two RBI and scored four runs in the twinbill for the Bennies.
