MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University baseball team was recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) with the Team Academic Excellence Award, it was announced on Wednesday. Augsburg finished the 2023-24 school year with a team cumulative grade-point average of 3.23.

In order to earn the honor, teams must post a team GPA of 3.0 or above for the entire 2023-2024 academic year. Augsburg was one of more than 470 collegiate programs recognized (NCAA D-I, D-II, D-III, NAIA and junior college).

Of the team's 39 players in 2023, 22 Auggies had cumulative GPAs of 3.20 or higher and 18 had GPAs of 3.50 or higher.

15 Auggies earned Academic All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors in 2023-24 -- Dylan Adams (JR, Windermere, Fla./Windermere Prep School), Nick Allbee (SO, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS), Owen Bernards (SR, St. Paul, Minn./Central HS), Cam Fischer (SR, Becker, Minn./Becker HS), Cristian Foss (SO, Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS), Ty Gage (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS), Jimmy Hemera (JR, Christchurch, New Zealand/Hillmorton HS), Jacob Henry (SO, Stacy, Minn./Forest Lake HS), Nick Hubbard (JR, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS),  Ben Kittleson (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS), Austin Lang (SO, Anoka Minn./Anoka HS), Carter Peterson (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS), Joe Peterson (SR, Victoria, Minn./Chanhassen HS), Kell Piggott (SO, Superior, Wis./Superior HS), and Josh Udelhofen (JR, Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig HS). 

Under 21st-year head coach Keith Bateman, the Auggies finished 10-24 overall and 6-14 in MIAC play.
