MINNEAPOLIS – Augsburg University baseball players
Ethan Hathaway (SO, Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson HS),
Austin Lang (SR, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) and
Derek Tomalak (JR, Tecumseh, Mich./Clinton HS) were named to the Academic All-District Baseball Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), it was announced this week.
Hathaway is an undecided major with a 3.80 grade-point average, Lang is a marketing major with a 3.72 GPA, and Tomalak is a film production major with a 3.68 GPA. The CSC Academic All-MIAC honor is the third for Lang and the first for both Hathaway and Tomalak. Hathaway and Lang will earn Academic All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors this season, Lang for the third time and Hathaway for the first time.

Augsburg's primary designated hitter this season, Hathaway hit .273 (15-of-55) in 21 games (20 starts), with four doubles, two triples, six walks, eight RBI and 16 runs scored, with one stolen base. He had a .418 slugging percentage, .344 on-base percentage and .762 OPS. He had a hit in 10 of his 21 games played this season, with five multi-hit and two multi-RBI games. Hathaway has played in 23 games in his Augsburg career.

The leader of Augsburg's pitching staff this season, Lang was named to the
All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team. In seven starts, he finished with a team-best 4.65 earned-run average, with a 1-3 record and three complete games in a team-high 40.2 innings pitched. He had a team-leading 42 strikeouts against just 23 walks, with his .229 opponent batting average best on the team. His 4.65 ERA was
13th-best among conference pitchers, with his 45 strikeouts tied for eighth-most.
In 36 career pitching appearances (31 starts) in four seasons, Lang finished with a 6-19 record and 5.29 ERA, with six complete games and two saves in 168.1 innings pitched. He finished with 147 career strikeouts against 69 walks and a .286 opponent batting average.

A transfer who played his first two seasons at Jackson Community College (Mich.), Tomalak appeared in 21 games (18 starts) this season as Augsburg's primary catcher, hitting .264 (14-of-53), with three doubles, a triple, three walks, four RBI, seven runs scored and a stolen base. He had a .358 slugging percentage, .375 on-base percentage and .733 OPS. He had a hit in 10 of his 21 games played this season, with three multi-hit games.

Keith Bateman, Augsburg finished with a 8-19 overall record and 5-15 mark in MIAC play in 2026.
The CSC Academic All-District team is part of the
CSC Academic All-America program. Nominated by athletic communication professionals at their schools, student-athletes must have a grade-point average above 3.50 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials. The Division III Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the Division III Academic All-America teams program.
