Hensel's goal gives Auggies 1-0 win at Crown

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. -- Megan Hensel (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) scored the lone goal of the game in the 66th minute, lifting her Augsburg University women's soccer team to a 1-0, season-opening victory at Crown College on Friday evening.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Augsburg 1, Crown 0
LOCATION: Old National Bank Stadium, St. Bonifacius, Minn.
RECORDS: Augsburg 1-0-0 overall, Crown 0-1-0 overall

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Hensel, a fifth-year senior, scored on an impressive play created by two players playing their first collegiate games. Defender Avery Rich (FY, Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka HS) gained the ball near midfield, and lofted a pass past a Crown midfielder to Holland Kneefe (FY, Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS). Kneefe sprinted up the left wing and slotted a perfect pass to a wide-open Hensel in the center of the 18-yard box, and Hensel slammed the ball home for her eighth career goal.
• Augsburg held firm control throughout the game, outshooting Crown by a 21-3 margin, including a 10-1 advantage in shots on-goal. The Auggies held a 58-to-42 percent possession advantage in the game, with 56 percent of their possession time spent in the attacking half of the field.
• Hensel and Phoebe Alva Rosa (JR, Jackson, Wyo./Jackson Hole HS) had four shots each, with each contributing three shots on-goal. Jayla Ponce (SR, Kuna, Idaho/Kuna HS) had three shots.
• Twenty players saw game action for the Auggies.
• Tess Enlow (SO, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) had one save in goal to earn her first collegiate career shutout in goal.

FOR THE FOES
• Rachel Fuller had nine saves in goal for the Polars.
• Ella Hollander had two shots for Crown.
